57th Annual Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning

Attorneys Cynthia Hurley, Kimberly Loveland, and Selby Rains attended the 57th Annual Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning. The event was sponsored by the University of Miami School of Law from January 9th to 13th in Orlando, Florida.

The Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning is the nation’s leading conference for estate planning professionals, offering unparalleled educational and professional development opportunities for all members of the estate planning team.  For over half a century, it has provided its members with comprehensive educational and professional development opportunities. The 57th edition of this renowned conference brought together attorneys, trust officers, accountants, charitable giving professionals, elder law specialists, wealth management professionals, and nonprofit advisors to discuss and exchange ideas on topics pertinent to their respective fields.

Featuring the nation’s leading experts covering a wide variety of today’s latest developments in estate planning, including crucial tax and non-tax planning concerns and practical guidance, attendees had the opportunity to learn, share, and discuss a variety of relevant topics, such as just-passed legislation impacting retirement plans, the significant tax and non-tax developments of 2022, including the potential planning implications of the results of the midterm elections, and of enacted or anticipated legislation.  Additional topics included domestic and foreign asset protection, jurisdictional trust law issues, planning with installment obligations, and how to plan effectively in today’s unpredictable economic and legal times.

This was a valuable networking and continuing education experience for all of Loveland & Hurley PLLC attorneys.  Future blog posts will feature topics our attorneys found interesting and relevant, stay tuned.
