58th Annual Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning

Attorneys Cynthia Hurley and Kimberly Loveland attended the 58th Annual Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning. The event was sponsored by the University of Miami School of Law from January 8th to 12th in Orlando, Florida.

The Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning is the nation’s leading conference for estate planning professionals. This conference offers unmatched educational and professional development opportunities for all members of the estate planning team. The 58th edition of this renowned conference brought together attorneys, trust officers, accountants, charitable giving professionals, elder law specialists, wealth management professionals, and nonprofit advisors to discuss and exchange ideas on topics pertinent to their respective fields.

During the week-long conference, the nation’s leading experts cover a wide variety of recent significant tax and non-tax developments to provide practical guidance, strategies, tools, and techniques for estate planning practitioners. A series of programs covered the reporting requirements of the Corporate Transparency Act, which was enacted on January 1, 2024 and affects business entities and beneficial owners of such entities. Attendees also had the opportunity to learn, share, and discuss a variety of relevant topics, such as Grantor Retained Annuity Trusts, new techniques for charitable giving, planning for retirement benefits from world-renowned expert Natalie Choate, and life insurance valuation.

This was a valuable networking and continuing education experience for Loveland & Hurley PLLC attorneys.
